What is SAC? SAC stands for School Advisory Committee. It consists of
parents and faculty members elected by you. The purpose of the committee is
to address policies and issues that affect the whole
school. The SAC can
also be a sounding board for new ideas that would enhance
curriculum goals,
better meet teacher needs, or improve upon student
procedures. In other
words, the SAC meeting is a place to address "school
wide" issues.
Who is a member of the GMS SAC? 3 parents and 3
teachers compose our GMS SAC.
However currently for this School Year SY07/08, we have two parent
vacancies. If
you are interested in serving on the GSM SAC please complete
the SAC Nomination Form located on this website it to your
child's teacher
or to the school office immediately.
How do I bring an idea before the SAC? There are three different ways to
present your thoughts at a SAC meeting. The first method is to address an
individual SAC member and ask that they present your ideas
for you. Second,
you can submit a written request. Agenda input forms are available under
the SAC link below. Third, you can attend a SAC meeting and present
your
issues during the open session of the meeting. All topics discussed during
open session will be subject to a time limitation. This is done so that all
people who wish to speak at a SAC meeting will have the
opportunity to be
heard. Please
submit the agenda input form so that you can be added to the
agenda.
How will my issues be addressed? All topics
brought before the SAC will be
attended to in either written or oral responses, depending on
the need of
the issue. Most
issues will not be resolved during the meeting they are
presented.
Members need time to research the subject and consult expert
advice so that all concerns receive the proper responses they
deserve.
